Carol Brecker teaches Sogetsu ikebana at her home studio and enjoys sharing her love of ikebana. “Ikebana is personal. It goes far beyond pretty flowers and vase. How you express yourself is based on your history, life experiences, passions, joys and sorrows.”
Our workshop theme is based on teaching of Sofu Teshigahara, “To be founded on tradition . . . should mean to make progress”. And Second Iomoto Kasumi Teshigahara, remembered and beloved for the beauty and clarity of her art and teaching both “classical and freestyle with modern touches.”
You will bring a traditional or contemporary vase and choose from a large collection of materials to complete your design to honor the past or project into the future.
PROVIDED:
Cedar, oak, and maple branches; fall flowers, dried allium, colorized branches, papers
BRING:
Traditional or modern freestyle container
Your ikebana tools: hasami or garden sheers, flower holder, cutting bowl, wire, etc.
Cash or check for popular raffle for special arrangement and vase.
